Appui au renforcement du secteur de l’énergie / Support to strengthening in energy sector
Morocco and the European Union (EU) have established a strong and dynamic partnership which has been steadily deepening since the year 2000 when the EU-Morocco Association Agreement entered into force. In order to further strengthen the partnership a number of sectors and priority activities – including the energy sector – were jointly identified and supported by the multi-sector program called “Achieving the Advanced Status” (Réussir le Statut Avancé). This Twinning project is supporting the implementation of key reforms in the energy sector in order to get closer to EU regulatory standards. The responsibility for reforms in the energy sector lies within the Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment (MEMWE) of Morocco.
The member state consortium consisting of the Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition of France and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany support the MEMWE to reach the targets set by the national strategy such as the security of reserves, the availability of energy, an open access to energy and the management of demand and environment protection.
